With the goal of improving the conversational experience on Google Messages, Google is rolling out emoji reaction effects.

An animated umbrella with rain effects is sent in response to a sobbing face emoji reaction, whilst many animated thumbs-up icons are sent in an identical manner.

Users can choose the right response from a list of ten by simply long-pressing on an SMS or RCS message to take use of this recently introduced feature.

The ten reactions are as follows: happy smile, sad face, heart in the air, open mouth, infuriated face, crying face, angry face, party popper, and more.

This development comes after Google debuted screen effects, animated emojis, and Photomoji. It took some time for it to really reach handhelds, even though it was first unveiled back in November as part of a bigger messaging update to commemorate Messages’ 1 billion RCS users.

At the time, Google said, “This feature, designed to add a dynamic twist to your chats, embraces the power of expression with all ten of these popular emoji.”

Even though many users would find these effects desirable, not all users may gain equally from them. Currently, those users can’t turn off the reactions, but that could change in the future.

All things considered, the most recent version puts Google Messages closer to the rival iMessage, which is accessible within Apple’s ecosystem. Such effects were previously delivered by iMessage, however it used a different deployment mechanism. In any case, this improvement will make talks more enjoyable, and enjoyable things are always reason to celebrate.
