Spotify has begun publicly testing an Instagram-style stories highlight in its mobile application on iOS and Android, reports Engadget.

The video clips show up on certain albums and playlists, for example, Spotify’s Christmas Hits playlist, which incorporates short messages from artists like Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson, and Pentatonix, in which they relate their favorite happy songs.

The stories can be gotten to by means of a symbol in the upper left of a playlist. Tapping a symbol raises an interface like the one found on Instagram, permitting clients to tap on the left or right of the screen to avoid through short video clips.

First showing up on Snapchat, stories have gotten ubiquitous via social media stages, with the format showing up on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and most as of late, Twitter, as “fleets.”

Spotify may consequently appear to be an odd spot for the element to show up, anyway the streaming service has tried Stories-style content before, with comparative Storylines from artists showing up a year ago.

Spotify stories aren’t appearing for everybody and just show up on specific playlists and albums, demonstrating that their rollout is as yet limited to a subset of clients and they may not get by past the initial testing stage.

“At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience,” a representative advised Engadget because of a request for input. “Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time.”
