A periscope lens camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, scheduled for delivery in September 2023, will have an outstanding 5x–6x optical zoom range.

In September 2023, the iPhone 15 is expected to be introduced. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the four available variants. The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the basic models will feature a greater refresh rate than the displays on the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the Pro variants. The A17 Bionic chip is projected to power all models.

It is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max would include significant improvements over the basic devices. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will now have a periscope lens camera.

The periscope lens camera is anticipated to be the outstanding feature generating interest in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to analyst Ming Chi Kuo. In contrast to the existing models’ 3x optical zoom, this upgraded camera technology will provide an astounding optical zoom range of 5x–6x. This year, the Pro Max will be the only device to offer the ground-breaking periscope lens camera; however, the iPhone 16 Pro will receive it the following year.

According to Chuo, this rollout strategy is advantageous to both Apple and Largan, its sole provider of periscope lenses. The new camera component will first be included in 15-20 million iPhones made by the two businesses this year. This production volume is anticipated to increase significantly by 70–80% the following year, reaching over 30 million units. Three to four times more expensive than a typical high-end lens is the periscope lens, which is a more expensive component. Largan will profit from this relationship because of the rise in demand brought on by Apple’s most recent invention.

Apple may decide to charge more for its Pro models than its current portfolio by at least $100 as a result of the addition of the new periscope lens and other improvements. In a few weeks, the iPhone 15 series is expected to arrive, with rumors suggesting a September 12 launch event, pre-orders the following day, and an official sale on September 22.

A major chunk of Apple’s initial shipments of the iPhone 15 series, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, will go toward the top-tier model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will go on sale next month. The Pro Max is expected to get between 35 and 40% of all shipments, making it the most popular option out of the lineup’s four versions. Apple aims to ship 10–20% more units than the iPhone 14 Pro Max from the previous year, a deliberate move that shows the corporation is confident in the Pro Max’s popularity.

Although there were earlier speculations that the Pro Max model launch would be delayed, Kuo’s most recent report suggests that the Pro Max is starting to arrive in large quantities this week. This indicates that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to launch concurrently with the rest of the new lineup, despite the possibility of some initial supply limitations.
