Nothing has made any announcements on the release of Nothing OS 2.5.3, the new firmware for the Phone 2. In addition to the most recent April 2024 security update, the most recent firmware upgrade made available through Nothing’s X account highlights the enhancements and new features coming to the Phone 2. This week is when the rollout to device owners will begin.

Users of the Phone 2 will be able to “apply Nothing Icon Pack” on their home screen, which should improve accessibility for the app drawer. Users will also be able to scroll across pages “while holding app icons” thanks to a better icon organization on the home screen.

One of the other noteworthy updates to Nothing OS 2.5.3 is the resolution of a connectivity problem with Bluetooth media players. The additional animation enhancements for smoother transitions in particular cases are noted in the changelog from the tweet.

Finally, the latest update for the Phone 2 promises to increase overall device performance by bringing about improved system stability.

Given that Nothing’s other devices, such as the Phone 1 and the most current Phone 2a, are well past the 2.5.3 upgrade, it seems that the most recent OS 2.5.3 update is long overdue. Users of the Phone 2 have been waiting for the upgrade for a few weeks now, but it appears that Nothing took its time to release the firmware.

January 2024 saw the release of the preceding Nothing OS 2.5.2 version, which gave the Phone 2 access to a number of additional functions and personalization options. It offered, among other things, improvements to the lock screen interface and direct access to the Glyph Jnterface’s Music Visualization.

Having said that, the most recent incremental upgrade builds upon the noteworthy Nothing OS 2.5 release, which updated the Phone 2 to Android 14 in December 2023.
