Chinese tech giant Baidu’s (BIDU) AI chatbot Ernie will be available on Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup as part of a partnership that will bring a number of AI-powered features that Samsung (KS:) thinks will help it outperform Apple’s (AAPL) newest iPhones.

Some of the main AI features that Ernie will power are a “circle to search” tool, enhanced content summarization, and real-time call translation. Ernie 4.0, the chatbot’s most recent repetition, was released in October of last year and makes use of artificial intelligence (AI) to respond to user prompts in a thoughtful, logical, and human-like way.

“Now featuring Ernie’s understanding and generation capabilities, the upgraded Samsung Note Assistant can translate content and also summarize lengthy content into clear, intelligently organized formats at the click of a button, streamlining the organization of extensive text,” the two organizations stated in a statement, as reported on CNBC.

Following the news, Morgan Stanley released a note on Monday stating that it continues to believe Baidu (NASDAQ:) is “the best AI play in China’s Internet Industry” and that the partnership is a recognition of Baidu’s leadership in AI in China. It keeps up its “Overweight” recommendation on the company and projects 15% YoY growth in Baidu’s cloud revenue in 2024.

This, in our opinion, is only the start of a long-term AI partnership. We think that the AI cloud integration that Galaxy AI and Ernie have going on right now is only the beginning. “We expect further expansion into other phone models, or potential development into an edge AI model in the long run, which is an untapped market as of now (i.e., processing of data and algorithms directly from an endpoint device without an Internet connection),” analysts stated in a note to clients, even though the current monetization scale could be limited.

As of Monday noon, Baidu’s stock is down 0.64% at $106.97.
