The present Doodle celebrates Austria’s National Day, referred to in German as Nationalfeiertag.
On this day in 1955, Austria passed a law that announced the country’s perpetual neutrality, and the date has been held for the recognition of the nation’s National Day since 1965.
Represented in the Doodle artwork is Austria’s red-and-white, on a level plane striped flag.
While the flag was first authoritatively received in quite a while, design follows its roots back hundreds of years to Europe’s Middle Ages, with the main emphasess showing up as right on time as 1191.
Einen schönen Nationalfeiertag! Happy National Day, Austria!!
