Volkswagen India has announced the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition, with a starting price of Rs. 16.3 lakh (ex-sh). This is an attractive combo.

Volkswagen India unveiled the Taigun, a popular small SUV, in a new limited special edition. Volkswagen has priced the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition at Rs. 16.3 lakh (ex-Sh) and is planning to sell a limited number of them around the nation. Compared to a standard Taigun, the Trail Edition has some visual improvements that set it apart.

Launch of the Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition

Volkswagen has shifted its focus to the Taigun SUV after introducing the Matte Edition with the Slavia sedan. Ahead of the holiday season, Taigun and Slavia just received electrically adjustable front seats. The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition, a more rugged version of this small SUV with several interior and external accessories, is now available.

In April 2023, Volkswagen debuted the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition. In October 2023, Volkswagen introduced the GT trim, which is one level below the top-tier GT Plus. The black, 17-inch alloy wheels, the working roof rails, and the decals at the rear doors, C-pillars, and quarter panels are the main features.

The red finish on the brake calipers and the “Trail” insignia on the tailgate are two further striking features. The Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition also receives some interior styling enhancements.

Trail Edition interior improvements

The leatherette seats now have red contrast stitching and a black finish. The upholstery of the seats has “Trail” embossing as well. The ambient lighting and the metallic GT Plus pedals are two further noteworthy features. The feature list is comparable to the GT trim’s, with the exception of the dashcam’s integrated 2-inch LCD.

The larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment panel has features like wireless charging, auto lighting, TPMS, a reversing camera, and more. It also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Key equipment found on the GT Plus, such as a single-pane sunroof, six airbags, a digital instrument panel, powered and ventilated front seats, and more, have been removed from this model.

Specifications of the engine and transmission

Remember that the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun have the highest ratings in GNCAP history for both adult and child occupant protection, with the Virtus earning a perfect 5-star rating at the time of testing.

As a member of the higher-end GT range, the Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is only available with a petrol engine. Peak power output of the 1.5L, 4-cylinder Evo TSI engine is 148 horsepower, and torque is 250 Nm. With the Taigun Trail Edition, Volkswagen is only providing a 6-speed manual transmission option.

Models including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, and Citroen C3 Aircross will all be challenged by the Taigun SUV.
