Support for satellite messaging in the most recent Developer Preview version of Android 15 indicates that the capability is expected to make its way onto the next generation of (non-Apple) handsets worldwide. In the meantime, the feature and its impact on asking prices are well-established in China. According to reports, OPPO will soon release a new flagship smartphone model as the latest example of this reality.

According to reports, it now appears to be identical to any previous X7 Ultra finished in the flagship’s Tailored Black (vegan leather with mid-line stitching) colorway, with the exception of the large circular camera hump, which appears to have a new checkerboard-effect background for its triple lenses.

However, it now features 1TB of internal storage and 16GB of RAM, making it the only smartphone model with the same state-of-the-art Hasselblad-branded back cameras as the cellular-only X7 Ultra. As a result, it now costs 7,999 yuan (~$1,107) instead of the previous top-end 512GB SKU’s 6,999 yuan (~$968).

Because of its high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, the resulting new top-end mobile device has also lately scored remarkable results on Geekbench.

It is scheduled to launch as the Find X7 Ultra Satellite Communications Edition (also known as the OPPO PHY120) through China Telecom, which is reportedly its exclusive carrier. As of right now, it hasn’t been available through third-party importers like TradingShenzhen.
