For the 2025 model year, the performance-focused S3 and RS 3 models in the lineup will also receive mid-cycle modifications for the Audi A3.

Audi debuted the 2025 A3 in March, and the carmaker debuted the 2025 S3 on Monday. The vehicles are expected to hit showrooms later this year, albeit the more useful hatchback offered abroad will only be available in the United States in the form of a sedan. Though it is unclear when it will be shown, the revised RS 3 should also be released this year.

Similar to the A3, the S3 has undergone minor style changes, such as new fascia designs with L-shaped embellishments at both ends. The infotainment system will allow owners to modify the pattern of the daytime running lights for the first time, along with new internals for the lights on both ends. There will be four different designs available.

Inside, designers have updated the air vents and gear shifter, given the trim and dash accents more possibilities, and included ambient lighting as standard. New features that can be installed either permanently or for a predetermined period of time are also included, along with an integrated app store.

Initial performance figures for the revised S3 include 328 horsepower from a basic 2.0-liter turbo-4, or enough for a 4.4-second 0-60 mph sprint time and a top speed limited to 155 mph. U.S. specifications will be finalized closer to the market introduction. For versions sent to the United States, the current S3’s engine produces 306 horsepower.

The transmission is still a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, but Audi has tuned it to produce more starting torque and quicker acceleration. Under full load, shift times have also been halved.

The installation of the torque splitter carried over from the RS 3 is another significant modification. The S3 can now direct torque between the rear wheels as well as between the front and back axles thanks to a Haldex differential with multi-disc clutches on each rear axle shaft. This should make handling easier while cornering hard.

An additional torque-vectoring system based on brakes can manage the drive torque even more. Both the traction-control system and the mechanism that brakes the inside wheels during cornering have been improved. The front has also received larger brakes; the ventilated discs are now 14 inches across, or around 1.2 inches larger than before. These are housed on stock 18-inch wheels that have Falken tires on them.

The McPherson strut front suspension on the S3 has a redesigned pivot bearing that allows for more negative wheel camber, which improves handling even further. According to Audi, the revised S3 provides more traction and therefore improved control during heavy cornering when combined with firmer wishbones.

The drive mode selector, which now includes a new Dynamic Plus option on the upgraded S3, allows the driver to adjust the parameters for several of the computerized chassis systems. This mode causes the transmission to produce later upshifts and earlier downshifts, and it also influences the engine by raising the idle level for better throttle response.

The 2025 S3’s pricing details will be made public closer to the product’s later-year market debut.
