Even while it can be necessary, your smartphone might be taking up a lot of your time, particularly if you’re often checking emails, texts, and apps.

You might be able to win a wonderful reward if you can put down your gadget for a little while. Siggi’s Dairy, a New York-based firm popular for its Icelandic-style yogurt, is giving away $10,000 to anyone who can avoid using a smartphone for a whole month.

“We believe in the power of living a simpler life with fewer distractions. One of the biggest distractions in our lives today is our phone,” the company said on its website. “That’s why we’re challenging you to give up your smartphone for a month as part of the Siggi’s digital detox program.”

In a poll, nearly half of teenagers claim to use the internet “almost constantly.”
According to Siggi’s website, those who are interested in taking part can register for the competition by sending in a 100–500 word essay that explains “why you need a digital detox in your life and how it will impact you in a positive way.”

To participate, one must be at least eighteen years old and register before the end of the day on January 31. The following will be awarded to ten fortunate winners, who will be chosen at random and contacted by email:

  • Ten Thousand
  • A smartphone lockbox
  • a flip phone that lets you continue to make calls
  • a one-month pre-paid SIM card
  • Siggi’s yogurt is sufficient for three months.
