Shelby American unveiled the 2024 Super Snake, the company’s first attempt at using the S650 generation Mustang platform, on Thursday. It has a number of performance-oriented enhancements, including an 830-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine that is available, and is based on the most recent version of Ford’s pony car.

“We designed the Shelby Super Snake to be the pinnacle of our performance cars based on Ford’s world-class Mustang sports car,” Shelby American CEO Joe Conway said in a statement “It follows Carroll Shelby’s vision that each generation of car improves the breed. By collaborating with Ford Motor Company, Whipple and other top companies, our Las Vegas team created our best Shelby Super Snake yet.”

There are two engine options for the 2024 Super Snake: a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 with natural aspiration that produces 480 horsepower, or a Whipple supercharged version of the same engine that produces 830 horsepower. With either option, Shelby has upgraded the Super Snake’s suspension for “sharper turn-in,” added stronger brakes, improved cooling, and a free-flowing Borla exhaust system to “leverage the powertrain’s potential.” Selecting the available six-speed manual also comes with a one-piece driveshaft and a short-throw shifter.

Improvements to the Super Snake’s appearance complement those to the aggressive drivetrain. The wheels are the main attraction; they are 20-inch forged magnesium pieces with summer tires that reduce unsprung mass by about nine pounds per corner.

There’s more lightweighting to come. A unique aluminum hood, wide-body carbon front fenders, bumper section, grille, side rockers, and lower diffuser are all included with the Super Snake. If you choose the fastback body design, a large carbon rear wing is also included. If you choose with the convertible, the more understated ducktail spoiler will be your only option.

Embroidered floor mats, Super Snake door sill plates, Cobra-themed puddle lamps, embroidered seats, and a serialized dash plaque are just a few of the Shelby-specific interior details. If you grab the stick, you’ll receive a shifter ball with the Shelby logo.

The 2024 Super Snake’s price has not yet been disclosed by Shelby American, but production is scheduled to start in the middle of summer. Only 250 Super Snakes will be produced this year, according to the firm. Each one also retains its original Ford powertrain warranty and is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty for further piece of mind.
