Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has resumed accepting reservations for E-CNG vehicles and unveiled the G-AT, a new Rumion model. The latest model, priced at 13 lakhs ex-showroom, is scheduled to go on sale on May 5, 2024. A ₹11,000 booking charge is required for the car.

Earlier the company had halted the bookings for the Toyota Rumion E-CNG variant, stating that this had been done due to the overwhelming response for the MPV. A statement from Toyota read, “The demand has surpassed our expectations, resulting in a long delivery time across variants, especially for the E-CNG option. This has necessitated us to temporarily halt bookings of the E-CNG option ONLY to avoid customer inconvenience due to a longer waiting period.”

Now for the new version: the 1.5-liter K series petrol engine that powers the Toyota Rumion G-AT model is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that incorporates Neo Drive (ISG) technology. The CNG version produces 87 bhp at 5500 rpm and 121.5 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm, while the gasoline version produces 102 bhp at 6000 rpm and 136.8 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm.

Together with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 17.78 cm Smartplay Cast Touchscreen music system, the new model has Toyota i-Connect, which allows remote control of the climate, lock/unlock, hazard lights, and other connected features. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and other advanced safety features are included.

The Toyota Rumion has increased the number of versions in its portfolio to seven: S, G, and V grade for manual transmissions, and S, G, and V grade for automatic transmissions. Furthermore, the S model comes with the E-CNG option. Starting at 10.44 lakh ex-showroom, the Toyota Rumion range goes up to 13.73 lakhs.

Through cosmetic changes, the Toyota Rumion—basically a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with a new badge—acquires a unique personality. These include an Innova-inspired grille, an updated front bumper featuring an air dam with a chrome border, and distinctive alloy wheels with a two-tone machined finish. It looks like the only changes to the back are a chrome garnish.
