As a farewell to the iconic W-12 engine, Bentley introduced the Batur in 2022. It is a special coupe that rides on the Continental GT’s basis.

There will only be 16 constructed. As a result, it is more rare than the coupe, whose 18-piece run will be produced.

The Bentley W-12 engine, whose manufacture ended in April, is one of the last to be used in automobiles, along with the coupe. The V-8 plug-in hybrid and eventually the electric powertrain will be used in future performance flagship vehicles. In late 2026, Bentley is expected to release its first electric vehicle.

The Batur gets its name from the Lake Batur in Bali, and it has a customized version of the well-known 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine that produces 740 horsepower. With a top speed of 209 mph and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds, the coupe’s output should allow the convertible to keep up with the pace.

But the Batur is all about comfort and true grand touring flair, not top-line speed. Along with seats for two, the retractable soft-top roof opens to show a distinctive “airbridge” that resembles rollover hoops and is probably there for aerodynamic purposes. The two tapering cowls that the airbridge is situated above provide storage compartments below.

Through Bentley’s Mulliner customizing department, customers will have a plethora of personalization options for their Batur Convertibles. According to Bentley, customers will be able to choose the color and texture of almost every surface in the vehicle. A 3D-printed rose gold ring for the drive mode selector on the center console is one of the available options. Additionally, a steering-wheel insert and vent controls are available in rose gold. Bentley stated that the special pieces were crafted in collaboration with jewelers in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The outside of this first Batur Convertible, also known as prototype number zero, is finished in the exclusive orange shade Vermillion Gloss. The hue even appears as a fade in the middle of the grille, turning black. It also appears as a trim piece on the vehicle’s 22-inch wheels.

Although the price has not been disclosed, it is estimated to be more over two million British pounds, or roughly $2.5 million. The coupe had a starting price of $2 million, or 1.65 million British pounds.
