Not to count our chickens before they hatch, but rather McDonald’s arrangements to add another fresh chicken sandwich to menus in mid 2021.

Mickey D’s will officially enter the chicken sandwich fray with its most recent invention; the Crispy Chicken Sandwich had a short preliminary attempt in Houston, Texas, and in Knoxville, Tenn., the previous winter.

The chain reported the news during an Investors Day function on Monday, promoting the new expansion as an energizing extension for its “chicken portfolio.”

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich will hit menus in U.S. showcases right on time one year from now, as indicated by a delivery on its “Accelerating the Arches” plans. An introduction date was not unveiled.

“McDonald’s has significant opportunity to expand its chicken offerings, a category that is growing faster than beef. This includes leveraging the extraordinary global strength of Chicken McNuggets and the McChicken sandwich, and investing in new line extensions and flavors,” the chain said in an statement. “It also means continuing to offer food that aligns with current consumer trends and taste profiles, like spicy.”

During the Crispy Chicken Sandwich’s test in Texas and Tennessee, the sandwich was filled in as a dressed-down variant of the chain’s other chicken sandwiches, highlighting a fried chicken filet served on a potato roll, finished off with butter and pickles. A deluxe version included tomatoes, lettuce and mayo.

In a triumph for vegetarians, the Golden Arches likewise declared it will start testing a plant-based burger (obviously) called the “McPlant” right on time one year from now.
