Based on 2023 U.S. registrations1, Ford Mustang leads the American sports car market in sales for the first seven years of its existence. It has also led the global sports car market for over a decade2.

Over 59,000 buyers received a Mustang in 2023, adding to Ford’s cumulative delivery of almost one million pony cars over the previous ten years. Customers in China, Europe, Australia, and South America will be able to drive the newest Mustang in 2024, but the success of 2023 was mostly attributed to the introduction of the all-new seventh-generation Mustang in North America.

“We’ve sold more Mustangs in our history than the population of major cities like Chicago, London, or Seoul,” said Jeff Marentic, General Manager, North America/Global Truck, Family, and Enthusiast Vehicles. “As we get set to celebrate Mustang’s 60th anniversary, that same passion and excitement continues with our seventh-generation Mustang, now headed to customers in 85 markets around the world.”

This week at the New York Auto Show, Ford is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Mustang with the premiere of a special Vermillion Red and Ebony Black logo. The logo is modeled after the wheel center caps and badging on the 1964 World’s Fair Mustang. A special new feature for seventh-generation Mustang owners will be added to their vehicles around April 17 to help them commemorate the 60th anniversary of the model. To access this unique function, owners must enable “Automatic Software Updates” in the “Settings” menu using the SYNC 4 touchscreen in their car.

The seventh-generation Mustang, which offers the iconic appearance, sound, and appeal, is the latest chapter in the legend’s story. There are options available for Mustang at various pricing ranges and performance levels, whether it is a convertible or coupe, V8 or turbocharged 4-cylinder, manual or automatic. The new Mustang, along with the Dark Horse R, Mustang GT3, and Mustang GT4, is also seen on racetracks and in racing series around the globe.
