As a result of a potentially fatal roof hazard, Kia America is recalling over 101,000 cars and SUVs, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Following the NHTSA’s receipt of the safety concerns, federal safety authorities released the recall on Monday. Roof molding of cars may come free or separate while the car is being driven; this could be the consequence of incorrect installation when the car was being assembled.

In a safety recall report, officials noted that “visible lifting of roof molding or noise while driving” are warning signals.

“A detached roof molding can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash,” according to the NHTSA.
