The Galaxy Watch 6 is now the greatest smartwatch for Android users, but a new competitor will soon put competition against it. On October 4, 2023, Google is expected to release the Pixel Watch 2 and the Pixel 8 series. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were featured in a teaser video that was released by the company on Thursday. The Pixel Watch 2 has now experienced the same thing.

Google has introduced a teaser video for the Pixel Watch 2 that shows off its appearance and teases some of its capabilities. It’s not a bad thing at all that the Pixel Watch 2 appears to have a design that is mainly similar to that of its predecessor because the Pixel Watch still has a contemporary appearance that many people find to be lovely. The Pixel Watch 2’s rear plate features a ‘IP68’ inscription, indicating that the smartwatch has received an official rating for water and dust protection. Compared to the Pixel Watch, which has no IP rating, this is an enormous upgrade. The previous model’s water resistance was only claimed to be up to 5ATM by the manufacturer.

In addition to having an IP68 rating, the Galaxy Watch 6 complies with MIL-STD-810H. In terms of toughness and longevity, the most recent wristwatch from Samsung thus retains a lead over the Pixel Watch 2. Unless Google catches everyone off guard by giving the Pixel Watch 2 the same rating as the Galaxy Watch 6. While the teaser video just displays that, the majority of the smartwatch’s details have leaked.

What can we expect from the Pixel Watch 2?

The Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC, which features four Cortex-A53 cores and an Adreno 702 GPU, is rumored to be the processor powering the Pixel Watch 2. In contrast, the Exynos W930 chipset found in the Galaxy Watch 6 includes two Cortex-A55 CPU cores and a Mali-G68 GPU. The Pixel Watch 2 will likely be more powerful than the Galaxy Watch 6 thanks to its two more CPU cores. According to reports, the upcoming smartwatch will have a 306mAh battery, which is much smaller than the Galaxy Watch 6’s 425mAh battery.

The Pixel Watch 2 doesn’t appear to have as many functions as the Galaxy Watch 6 based on the teaser video and leaked specifications. But that doesn’t necessarily imply that the Galaxy Watch 6 is the superior smartwatch. At the event, Google might reveal further features for the Pixel Watch 2. Since the Pixel Watch 2 will have a stronger processor than the Galaxy Watch 6, which many have been requesting from Samsung for a while, we now expect that Samsung will undoubtedly feel the heat from the Pixel Watch 2.
