At the Moneycontrol Startup Conclave, Sudha Murty was with her husband Narayana Murthy.

At the Moneycontrol Startup Conclave 2023 in Bengaluru, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty said an ode to all the wives of entrepreneurs who have supported their husbands like a rock during their journey.

After NR Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, talked with his son Rohan Murty and thanked his wife for being his “lifelong support,” Sudha Murty approached the stage to give a brief but powerful speech in honor of all the women of entrepreneurs and their unflagging support.

I simply want to tell all young business owners that dealing with a more successful man is really very difficult. The audience rose to their feet as she said, “They are not normal, they are weird, they don’t have logic at home – only at the company.

They expect you to serve in a variety of jobs, she said, including those of their wife, secretary, finance manager, nanny, and advisor. All those things fall to women. And if you fail at even one of them, it hurts them.

She compared the work to establish a solid foundation in the field to a lengthy penance that would last for years.

“Tapas were popular in earlier times. Rishis would perform tapas and travel to woodlands to contemplate for an unknown number of years. A person devotes their entire life—their youth, tension, aspirations—to a single thing, which is their company, she added.

She continued by saying that despite all of their sacrifices, a woman still needs to be more powerful than a man.

And a woman must have to be stronger than a man. Murthy may be very strong in his organization, but I am twice as powerful. My opinion is that every entrepreneur’s wife is more talented, more dedicated, a better manager, a superior CEO, and a wonderful friend than their husband. They take their husband’s remarks at face value. Most of them are accepting but impractical. The honor should go to all these women who have created beautiful things for their husband, she stated to thunderous applause.
