Sort of, the Nothing Phone 2A is now official. In its most recent community update YouTube video, the company revealed the device’s name, but that was pretty much all that was said. It didn’t reveal anything more about the phone’s design, features, or cost. The film contained a number of announcements, one of which was the device’s name. There was also news of a new SDK that would allow outside developers to connect with Nothing’s illuminated Glyph interface.

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis stated, “With Phone 2A we’ve really doubled down on the core user needs — performance, camera, you name it,” and added that the gadget had “some of the most loved features of Phone 2.” Although he doesn’t state it clearly, it seems reasonable to infer from the description that the Phone 2A will be a less expensive phone than the company’s flagship models.

Following several leaks regarding the phone in the latter part of last year, the phone was officially announced. A Mediatek Dimensity 7200 processor appears to be powering the phone, according to a developer who saw what purports to be an animation of the device showcasing its streamlined Glyph interface (the flashing lights on the back of Nothing’s phones) and centrally positioned twin camera arrangement.

Leak source Yogesh Brar claims that the phone would sport a 50-megapixel dual camera and a 120Hz OLED screen. Roland Quandt of WinFuture predicts that the tablet may sell for less than €400, or $432, in the EU. It appears reasonable to presume that additional formal details will be released on February 27th, given nothing is scheduled to take place in Barcelona in conjunction with the MWC.

Nothing revealed the new phone’s pre-release along with the release of a new Glyph Developer Kit, which enables outside Android app developers to interface with the Phone 1 and Phone 2’s flashing lights on the back. Nothing technologist Joseph Horton stated, “We hope the Glyph Developer Kit will encourage more app makers to add integrations for Nothing phones and give users more ways to experience their Nothing products.”

The firm also announced that new CMF Buds and CMF Neckband Pro are coming for its less expensive CMF by Nothing collection, in addition to the news in the community update. There will soon be more information available.
