As part of its efforts to attract wealthy customers and as part of its expansion plans, the Japanese clothing company Uniqlo has named Bollywood star Katrina Kaif as its first brand ambassador in India.

The 40-year-old actor will appear in the campaign films for Uniqlo on both online and offline platforms, the retailer announced on Tuesday. Tennis player Roger Federer, who was chosen as Uniqlo’s global brand ambassador in 2018, before Kaif in the ranks.

The Bollywood actor will serve as the brand’s ambassador for the Fall/Winter 2023 campaign, which will be featured across all media platforms, including print, internet, outdoor, and in-store advertising, as part of the one-year partnership.

In India, where Uniqlo made its debut in 2019, there are currently 10 stores and plans for two more. The majority of these are in Delhi-NCR, although there are also few in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Zirakpur in Punjab. Mumbai would soon get stores from it. With its casual clothing styles, the company attracts customers of all ages.

“Uniqlo has been my go-to brand for daily essentials, and over the years I have admired how practical and cutting-edge their products are,” stated Kaif. Their simple, high-quality clothing is also incredibly adaptable and ideal for creating a daily outfit, she added. In the next Bollywood film Tiger 3, which is set for Diwali, Kaif will next be seen.

Tomohiko Sei, CEO of Uniqlo India, said, “We are very excited to have Katrina Kaif join us as Uniqlo’s first brand endorser in India.

The largest fashion company in Japan, Fast Retailing, includes Uniqlo. The other brands in the group are GU, Theory, PLST Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam, J Brand, and Helmut Lan. It is the largest of the eight brands in the group.

According to data from financial intelligence platform Tofler, Uniqlo India’s revenue increased 64% from the previous year to 391 crore in FY22. The retailer hasn’t yet released its FY23 financial results.
